Who’s Missing?

Escape To Better Foundation

Australians love their Easter traditions. It might be catching up with family, Easter egg hunts or going away with friends. So this Easter, take a moment to see if anyone is missing.

Isolation from friends and family is one of the first signs of domestic violence and abuse. While you don’t want to jump to incorrect conclusions, it’s important to monitor whether it’s becoming a trend.

We suggest reaching out with a phone call or visit just to see for yourself if everything is ok. There’s no need to vocalise your concerns at this stage. You are just doing a friendly catchup. If anything seems strange or you get a feeling that something is off, keep checking in on a regular basis. It doesn’t need to be frequent. Just consistently. If they don’t return your calls, text, messages or emails, keep trying because from our expert eye, it might mean the isolation and abuse are escalating.

Please share this post to give others the chance to notice who’s missing from their Easter traditions this year. If this post reminds you of someone you know, you can find help on what to do and say in our Guide for Family and Friends
